Talking about travelling, Bangkok will definitely pop out from traveller's mind.  Bangkok is a popular place for backpacking not only for Asian travellers but for some other countries as well.  The convenient transportation with BTS and MRT lines covering the whole city allows travelers to visit different tourist attractions easily.  Moreover, Bangkok ranked the first in the Global Destination Cities Index for many years.  What make Bangkok such an attractive place people around the world obsessed with?

Markets

In recent years, Bangkok has a lot of emerging markets which are ‘must go’ places such as Chatuchak Weekend Market, Asiatique The Riverfront etc.  There are a lot of cultural and creative products, and different Thailand snacks.  Aside from buying and dining, you can have full understanding on Thai culture and their lifestyle by just seeing their decorations and the things they sell.  Markets with the trendiest things in Bangkok are unmissable during the trip.

1. Chatuchak Weekend Market

Chatuchak Weekend Market is the largest market among the world.  The size of the market is larger than 15 football fields with more than 15000 booths.  The business hours are every Saturday and Sunday 8:30-22:00.  This market has plenty of Thailand unique products such as bags and clothes with traditional Thai patterns, and Thai street food.  Most of them are cheap and affordable for visitors.

2. Asiatique The Riverfront

Asiatique The Riverfront is another famous market with different booths.  The special things in this market that attract a lot of visitors are the ladyboy showbans Muay Thai.  Also, there are some game facilities such as Ferris wheel and bumper cars next to the market.  No matter families with children, couples or friends, you will not regret visiting Asiatique The Riverfront.

Temples

Apart from going to markets, visiting Thai temples is also a must when you travel to Thailand.  Thailand has more than 30000 temples because over 90% of the Thai believe in Hinayana.  You can feel the religious atmosphere of Thailand only by really visiting temples and see how believers pray devoutly.

1. Grand Palace & Wat Phra Kaew

Grand Palace was built in 1782 as the official residence of the Kings of Siam until 1925.  It was used not only for holding different blessing ceremonies, but also used to receive foreign envoys.  Wat Phra Kaew is the most important architecture inside the Great Palace.  It consecrates a Jude Buddha so it is a vital Buddhist sacred place which should be missed.

2. Wat Arun

Wat Arun is the largest Khmer-style tower with a laudatory title of Thailand Eiffel Tower.  It was built since the time of the Ayutthaya Kingdom.  The prang are decorated by seashells and bits of porcelain.  The first light of the morning reflects off the surface of the temple with pearly iridescence which is very beautiful.  Both Great Palace & Wat Phra Kaew and Wat Arun are located next to the Chao Phraya Riverside.
