Osaka Castle

Osaka Castle can be said to be one of the must-visit spots for all travelers.  After a small walk along the main street out of the Tanimachi 4-chome Station Exit 9, you will see both the Osaka Tenshu and the Osaka Museum of History.  As one of the three famous ancient cities alongside Nagoya Castle and Kumamoto Castle, played a major role in the unification of Japan during the sixteenth century of the Azuchi-Momoyama period.   However, due to the burning down of the war, the current Osaka Tenshu was imitated in 1931 and is now a showroom of Toyotomi Hideyoshi era.

Apart from Osaka Tenshu, Osaka Museum of History is a worth going place nearby.  The reappearance of ancient scenery along with some short descriptions allow tourists to experience the historical development of Osaka.  You are also provided with a seal booklet to collect representative seals of Osaka from different periods.


Namba Station

Namba is regarded as the center of the south area of Osaka.  Some of the most famous images of Osaka such as the Kani Doraku Crab and the Glico Man are located around the Dotonbori Canal.  As an entertainment district, from Dotonbori where gourmet snacks are gathered to Shinsaibashi where all clothing brands and cosmeceuticals are complete, all of them are near Namba Station.

Looking into Dotonbori from the bridge leading to Shinsaibashi, you will see various attractive neon advertisements and different restaurants and theaters on both side of the canal.  Surprisingly, behind the flourishing, there is a nostalgic Hozenji Yokocho where you can find some long-established Japanese restaurnats, okonomyali and other traditional cuisines.

 

Osaka Museum of Housing and Living

As the first museum with the theme of Osaka housing and life, the 8th to 10th floors are the exhibition area where reappear the living condition and various industries in the late Edo period.  There will be Japanese service staff on site to introduce all the traditional houses, inherit Japanese traditional beliefs or even tell you the areas where ninjas hide.
